Hunting

Captain Cook first introduced the wild boar to New Zealand, hence the name "Captain Cooker". These wild pigs have long snouts and grow impressive tusks.

They are well established within many of New Zealand's native and pine forests.

For years there was a market for selling wild pigs for export meat but this has long since ceased and wild pigs are now hunted for sport and the 'pot'.

Using trained pig dogs is the only successful method of tracking and stopping these wild boar as much of the bush they inhabit is dense. These wild pigs become very aggressive when cornered but with the aid of dogs, the hunter is able to shoot or 'stick' the prey.

A high level of fitness if required and it is definitely not a sport for the squeamish. Wild pig hunting is a real adrenalin sport.

Costs

Pricing includes GST (tax).

• NZ$600 per day for 1 or 2 hunters
• Duration - Minimum one day to unlimited days

Payment

• A 25% deposit is required for confirmation
• Refundable (less booking fee) if cancelled 60 days prior to booked date
• 50% refunadable if cancelled 30 days prior to booked date

• Sturdy foot wear
• Warm socks
• Extras of all above for camp outs
