Rusa Deer
Hunting

The only wild Rusa deer herd in New Zealand is located where we live, the Galatea foothills of Te Urewera National Park.

These deer are smaller than the Red deer and prefer to inhabit the lower lying areas that have grassy clearings but are generally thick with scrub and undergrowth.

They are an extremely cunning and smart deer and can crawl into the smallest of thickets to hide.

Sometimes they will even venture out onto adjoining farmland on the bush fringes and quite happily graze amongst cattle herds.

Spring (September, October, November) is where the new lush grass growth often lures these Rusa deer out into the open and advantage shooting becomes an excellent option.

Costs

Pricing includes GST (tax).

• Per day – NZ$600 for one or two hunters

Payment

• A 25% deposit is required for confirmation
• Refundable (less booking fee) if cancelled 60 days prior to booked date
• 50% refunadable if cancelled 30 days prior to booked date
