Fly Fishing The
Rangitaiki River

The Rangitaiki river is open to trout fishing all year. It is the longest and largest river in the area. Flowing from the Napier/Taupo highway, through Kaingaroa Forest, down through Murupara township, Galatea and Waiohou valleys, Edgecumbe township and out to sea on the Bay of Plenty coast.

The range of fly fishing for trout here is unlimited. There's always a location to suit the experience. From shallow riffles to deep heavy water, rapids to narrows and wider expanses.

Classed as the most productive trout fishing river in the area.

.The wild Rainbow trout and Brown trout populations know how to fight the elements for survival and will provide an angling experience not to be forgotten.

Large expanses of the lower river are only accessible via jet boat or drift boat.

Double the thrill with our guided jet boat charter. Travel the length of Lake Matahina and into the narrows of the Rangitaiki river. All angling is from the banks with the jet boat providing access to the best fishing spots along approximately 15 kilometres of otherwise inaccessible water

Costs

Guiding fee includes GST (tax), and lunch and beverages on full days.

Payment

• A 25% deposit is required for confirmation
• Refundable (less booking fee) if cancelled 60 days prior to booked date
• 50% refunadable if cancelled 30 days prior to booked date
