Home base is Lake Aniwhenua Lodge, situated on the shores of its name sake. This is in the central North Island of New Zealand and flanked to the east by Te Urewera National Park, and to the west by Kaingaroa Forest.

It is only a 45 minute drive on sealed highway from either Rotorua or Whakatane or 75 minutes from Taupo.
